Donation
The St Maarten Sea Rescue Foundation is a non profit foundation ran by volunteers. Our goal is to be able to assist mariners in need. Safety inspections are performed by our volunteers and the cost is considered a donation to our life saving foundation.
The following applies
Inspections at the St Maarten Sea Rescue office;
- Vessels up to 20 feet - required donation of $40
- Vessels between 21 and 40 feet - required donation of $80
- Vessels between 41 and 60 feet - required donation $120
- Vessels over 61 feet - required donation $200
Onsite/priority inspections are performed at a required donation of $250 (on St Maarten/St Martin).
Second inspection
If your vessel does not pass the initial inspection and a second inspection is needed (for the same year of registration) we require an additional donation of at least half of the initial inspection donation. For instance if your 29 foot vessel did not pass the inspection and needs to come back for a second inspection the required donation would be $40 where the initial donation was $80. For onsite/priority inspections the second inspection donation is $125.
To avoid a second or follow-up inspection please go through the pages in the What to inspect/expect section. These explain in datail what is needed on the vessel including sample pictures of equipment.
Off course you are allowed to donate more to our foundation for us to continue to be your lifeline when in trouble!
Other costs involved in registering a vessel on St Maarten are outside of the scope of the St Maarten Sea Rescue Foundation.
