Emergency
The main goal of the St Maarten Sea Rescue Foundation and its volunteers is to offer assistance to sailors and mariners in need of help. When in trouble at sea please follow these procedures to get in touch with rescue services.
VHF: Call the MRCC Fort de France on ch 16 of your VHF radio. Clearly state the name of the vessel, the location (coordinates) and the type of emergency. The MRCC will report the problem to the St Maarten Sea Rescue Foundation if you are in our area. When in French waters they will probably call in the help from the SNSM out of Marigot.
Phone: The St Maarten Sea Rescue Foundation does not use a telephone emergency service. Phone numbers of the crew are available with the MRCC Fort de France and they will respond to the call. If for some reason you do not have a VHF you can call the Coastguard on 913 or the police on 911.
